ELDERTON WINES, BAROSSA VALLEY

The Client

Reaching Out to Australia on Facebook

Elderton Wines was able to increase their Facebook audience by 23% & their email database by 10% in less than 8 weeks by running a variety of ad campaigns & a sweepstakes competition on Facebook to highly targeted audiences, and all on a limited budget.

The Problem

Elderton Wines:

A wine showcase of the absolute best that the Barossa has to offer.

Elderton Wines is an award winning Barossa Valley vineyard & winery in the beautiful Barossa Valley region of South Australia founded in 1979 by Neil & Lorraine Ashmead.

It began producing wine under the Elderton label in 1982 & shot to prominence in 1993 after winning the Jimmy Watson Trophy.
The business is now run by the second generation of Ashmeads, Cameron & Allister, & produces around 30,000 cases of wine a year from a range of varieties including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Riesling & Chardonnay.

The Goal: Leverage Facebook Ads

Elderton has an internationally renowned range of wines, but they needed to let Australia know that their product was available online from their online store, to start building turnover of product direct from the producer.

The Solution

The Solution: Win a bottle of Command!

Elderton used Facebook Ads to promote their Business Page to build a targeted community on Facebook.

Combined with promoted posts to generate engagement, drive traffic to the website and increase brand awareness within the Facebook community, the audience has continued to grow by roughly 10% per month.
For a quick increase to the email database, Elderton ran a sweepstakes competition on the Facebook business page for two weeks with a prize of one
bottle of the award winning Command Shiraz.

This competition proved an excellent investment for Elderton, as a basic ad spend increased the database they had been building for a number of years by 10% in just two weeks.

Elderton continues to utilise Facebook advertising as a valuable part of its marketing mix, with plans to extend advertising to the USA in the future.
